Description: Hunger and food insecurities touch millions of Americans. College campuses are especially hard hit. As a college education becomes less affordable, more students are forced to look for alternative basic needs resources. In this session, we will share best practices on how to successfully set up and maintain a campus pantry, develop resources, add wrap-around services and track report on your efforts.

In the dynamic landscape of higher education, the demand for career-ready graduates has never been higher. This presentation delves into the core principles of Career Ready Aggies, a program at Utah State University that emphasizes the cultivation of critical and transferrable skills that employers actively seek. Drawing inspiration from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), renowned for its leadership in career education, we will explore how Utah State University has aligned its approach with NACE's eight competencies framework. Central to our discussion is the implementation of a Canvas course where the Career Ready Aggies program is facilitated. Through meticulous structuring and strategic planning, we have crafted a program that empowers student employees to confidently connect their experiences and articulate their transferrable skills to future employers. Join us to discuss the insights gained from piloting this innovative program!

From collaborative initiatives with local businesses to creative social media campaigns, we have curated a week-long celebration that resonates with our student workforce. Join us to learn one university’s model and brainstorm ideas for you to take back to your institution!

Presenter: Thomas Bailey - ECMC
Description: The FAB Life game is a financial literacy simulation intended to teach students basic financial education concepts in an interactive way. Students are given life scenarios including occupations, income and family status. They are then tasked with budgeting for life's necessities including housing, transportation, food, clothing, childcare and more at stations set up around the room. Wild cards, like car repairs and unexpected health issues, add to the realistic aspect of planning for everyday life. Students complete the game by stating within their assigned budgets. At the end of the session, we bring it all together by recapping the highlights. Students are inspired with an appreciation for the true costs of life.

Collaboration Strategies - Impactship Program
Presenters: Lilbeth Rodriguez, Shawn Fawcett, Pavel Consuegra (San Diego College District & San Diego Mesa College)
Description: This workshop provides attendees with insights and inspiration from the San Diego Community College District's success stories, particularly in garnering leadership support and employer partnerships for San Diego Mesa College’s Mesa Impactship Program (MIP). Participants will also learn about innovative approaches in the Learning Aligned Employment Program (LAEP). The presentation equips attendees with practical tools to enhance collaboration in campus-based internship programs, aimed at reducing equity gaps in employment outcomes and fostering inclusivity for all students, ultimately promoting greater success in the workforce.
